"To
Whom it May Concern
If you are reading this letter than you have made the first
step in the right direction.
To invest in the Vanuatu Islands is the smartest move I have
ever made, and will be yours also.
I arrived here Independence day 2001, just divorced ravaged
by tax and lawyers, not knowing where or in what I wanted for
my future life. I had my 45 ft Catamaran (100%) heading for
Fiji to do day charters and that was all I could think of for
my future.
To drive down the main street of Port Vila was like going back
to my home town of Bathurst, clean country town by not a Westfield.
Alone and lost I immediately felt the warmth of the people,
Ni van’s and expats all welcomed me, was not interested
in how wealthy I was but me.
I had forgotten what a true country welcome was like, you will
experience this also, it is like no other, it really is genuine.
On the second day I started real estate hunting, I knew this
was my future home, I was fortunate enough to see a double wave
break on a white sandy beach not 10 minutes from town (now Breakas
Beach Resort) I could not believe I could buy 1 acre on that
beach, but I could, the land ownership over here is same as
Canberra or Rosebay, Glebe in Sydney a 75 year Torrens title
lease, basically the land is owned by the local families you
buy a registered lease either from a local family or a person
like me that has subdivided a block (section for the Kiwi’s,
lot for the Yanks) all very controlled by the Government, we
have the Westminster system here same laws as Australia New
Zealand, Canada ect. Recently the Government has introduced
the Strata Title system, absolutely the best way to subdivide.
The opportunities are as good as you to market them, there is
a small Real Estate sale business in Port Vila getting better
every day, as overseas sales persons find the Vanuatu Islands.
Over the last 6 years I have remarried and built a business
with my family, we have built the Resort called Breakas Beach
Resort (www.breakas.com) it’s a 36 fare (bungalow for
Aussies, batch for the Kiwi’s and cottage for the Yanks)
right on the beach, I am also building 16 villas adjacent to
Breakas on a joint partner deal. I have had the opportunity
to build and sell 137 block subdivision (le Plateau Estate),
all blocks of land sold, this was done on a combination of investor’s
money, local land owners percentage and my expertise. I now
live on that estate with my wife and new son William. Please
don’t think it is easy over here, its not, normal bureaucrat
hold ups but the difference is the Government want you to secede
they want you to be successful because when you are successful
you employ the local community. I employ over 100 staff to look
after our holiday makers at Breakas and over 100 construction
worker on different work sites I am doing. We need investors,
people willing to roll up there sleeves and work, teach the
local people new skills, allow them the privilege to take home
a decent wage package (the average weekly income is $100 pw),
educate there children, build there home. They cant do it with
out investors. Please look at Vanuatu as a place of the future,
we have over 50,000 tourists come here every year this will
double with in 2 years, we have 170,000 day trippers from P
& O this will increase next year to 220,000. These figures
alone show you Vanuatu has a future, the opportunities are endless.
I hope to see you some time in the “happiest place on
earth” call down to Breakas when you’re here and
say hello, have a local Tusker, if I can help in any way give
me a call."
